QuickBooks® is an easy to use accounting program that can be easily configured in many different ways to work the way you want it to. With a little planning and guidance, the program provides the most common features needed to give the user an accurate measurement of the activity and health of business. Out of the box, the program provides account receivable, inventory and account payable functions. With an additional fee (not viewed as minimal by many), the user can use the program’s full payroll capabilities – or, for about the same money, you can hire an accounting firm to do your payroll for you and you can forget about it.
When you create a QuickBooks® company data file, that data resides in a file with a *.qbw suffix. The name of your company provides the file with the prefix and so the file name becomes Company.qbw. Often, it is desired to move the company file to another computer or to even provide that data to your accountant for analysis. What you can do is backup your data to a file that ends with a *.qbb suffix. The backup file is placed on a flash drive or other portable media and the restored to the desired computer. The payroll subscription, however, does not go along for the ride. The payroll subscription remains on the original computer. It would be necessary to work with Intuit support to get the codes needed to move the payroll subscription to another computer.
